ARLINGTON, VA. – (December 7, 2016) – At the 2016 Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) Annual Conference in Colorado Springs, NATE recognized nine HARDI member companies for their outstanding efforts to promote NATE technician certification in the HVACR industry.   In addition to the Top Single Location Certifier and Most Improved Certifier honors, NATE announced awards recognizing NATE certifier organizations in the HARDI North American chapters/regions. Big Rapids, MI (October 18, 2016) – North American Technician Excellence (NATE), the nation’s largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians, and NOCTI, the leader in creating customized and standardized credentialing solutions for secondary and post-secondary career and technical education programs, announce partnership.  This partnership will allow students to receive a NATE certificate for successful passage of the NOCTI HVAC Installation and Start-up and HVAC Service and Repair assessments.  “We believe this collaboration give HVAC students a jumpstart on their career path,” said John C. Johnstone Supply of Las Vegas To Host NATE Testing at AHR Expo 2017

Johnstone Supply of Las Vegas will proctor two (2) sessions of North American Technician Excellence (NATE) technician certification testing on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the AHR Expo 2017. Technicians who have earned NATE certification are preferred among consumers, require fewer callbacks, and generate more income for their employers, thus earning higher wages on average and demonstrating greater value to employers than non-certified technicians. The NATE test sessions will be at 8 a.m. to 12 noon and at 1-5 p.m. Separate registration is required. Click here for instructions to register. Those interested in testing must register by January 12, 2017. NATE is the nation’s largest industry-endorsed, non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) technicians. Jose De La Portilla Receives NATE Golden Toolbox Award

ARLINGTON, VA. – (September 22, 2016) –NATE is proud to announce that Jose De La Portilla of Lennox HVAC Learning Solutions has been awarded the 2016 Golden Toolbox Award. Presented to De La Portilla at Comfortech 2016 in Philadelphia, the NATE Golden Toolbox Award, given in partnership with Contracting Business magazine, recognizes an industry professional who demonstrates outstanding service, support, and advocacy for technician certification. De La Portilla earned his first NATE certification in 2004 and became a NATE proctor shortly thereafter. He currently holds Heat Pump, Air Conditioning, Air Distribution, Gas Heating, and Light Commercial Refrigeration certifications. In 2015, De La Portilla joined NATE Technical Committee, a group of HVACR industry professionals who volunteer to help develop NATE exams. In particular, De La Portilla helped NATE to develop the new Ready-to-Work and HVAC Support Technician certificate exams, launched in January 2016. NATE Certification Affirms Contracting Competency

Much like a degree or diploma, certification offers a seal of approval that the individual doing the work is qualified, educated, and knowledgeable. And, for HVAC contractors, some of the most coveted certifications available come from North American Technician Excellence (NATE). “NATE certification differentiates us from our competition,” said Bobby Ring, president and CEO of Meyer & Depew Co. Inc. in Kenilworth, New Jersey. “We help our clients realize the difference between a contractor who uses NATE-certified technicians and those who don’t, and we’re proud to offer the superior service they’ve come to expect from our skilled technicians.” According to Valerie Briggs, director of marketing and business development, NATE, more than 34,000 HVACR technicians have at least one NATE certification, which equates to an average of about 13 percent of the workforce, per numbers maintained by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In parts of the country with partnering utility and manufacturing programs that require NATE certification, Briggs said the organization sees as much as 30 percent of HVACR techs with NATE certification.
