For training and testing information, first review NATE's Knowledge Areas of Technician Expertise (KATEs). Each KATE has a detailed list of references. The KATEs are arranged in a way that makes it easy for you to cross-reference them with the index at the rear of any HVAC or HVAC/R test or reference book to locate the correct information to study. No question will be on a NATE test unless it is referenced in a KATE.

In addition, many of NATE's partners have created training materials and courses, which they sell, to help technicians study for certification tests. Below is a partial list of partners who supply training materials. Important, NATE does not review or specifically recommend these training materials. This list is only provided to assist candidates beginning the process of locating training resources.
